Starting out was certainly a humbling experience. There were week-long stints of walking up and downstairs feeling like the life-alert lady. There were moments where I puked in the bathroom after. There were times I had to take 20 minutes in the car to catch my breath. The key thing for me was that he didn’t make me do anything but showed me what I needed to do and left it up to me to execute. This was important because you need to dig deep within yourself to succeed. Outside motivation doesn’t work long term – you have to just do it.

I still remember my first class. It was 8 AM on a Saturday. My friend Kerry asked me to take your class with her. I thought I’d have no problem, I’ve always been in shape. (I had not worked out in 5 years.) Well, I thought I was going to die after those ladders. I thought I was going to puke in the middle of class but, that didn’t stop me. I couldn’t walk for the next two days but, I went back that following Monday and that was that. I was hooked and I didn’t look back. I was determined to get back to where I used to be.

I’ve been part of the Bileau Built family for a little over two years now. It’s part of my life. It’s not easy to do, especially after working all day and having kids. It’s a choice. It’s a choice I make for myself…and it’s by far one of the best choices I make on a weekly basis.

Jason, I thank you for creating an unbelievably amazing program. It’s never boring, always something new. Great music, great energy, awesome people. You always know how to push someone into doing more than they think they can and not in a drill sergeant way. I’m not going anywhere so keep doing what you are doing! “He modified the exercises to what would benefit me the most. He didn’t do that with just me, he did it with everyone, he was consistently motivating everyone to do more, to push harder.”

I was trying out several various exercise classes to see what would motivate me to want to work out. Being that I am significantly overweight and have never really put any effort into working out or exercising, it was hard finding classes for a picky beginner like myself. A co-worker told me that Bileau Built had a great class and to try it, so I did.

The first class is always scary for me; who is teaching the class? Are they attentive to their fitness pupils? Are they in good enough shape to actually perform the routine that they are having me do? Well, it was yes to all my questions. I walked into the studio and was greeted by Jason and Pam Bileau, both were extremely friendly. Class began with a warm-up, being out of shape and having bad coordination, I had gotten confused, but the next thing I knew Pam was by my side and was helping me along. After the warm-up, came the workout. I wasn’t familiar with this type of cardiovascular/core/ feel every muscle in my body type workout. I thought that at water break I could run for it, but Jason stayed nearby and guided me through it.

Even the other fitness classmates were nice, there wasn’t much time for chatter, but between squat jumps and push-ups, there is always a quick smile, a nod of the head that showed the respect we all had for one another for trying our hardest. I have never felt more comfortable at a fitness class in my life. I truly look forward to the months ahead at Bileau Built, and am confident that I can achieve all my fitness goals there.

“It’s been a little over two months since I have met you and here’s what has happened to me so far – my legs hurt constantly from squatting; I found out that yes, I do, indeed, have triceps – who knew? And my clothes actually fit again. You have helped me mentally by pushing me to limits I didn’t even know that I had. I am willing to try all of the crazy things that you make us do in class and, it turns out, I can do them! They don’t always look pretty but I know that when I leave your space I have done my best and pushed my body to its limits. I sleep better, am more alert all day and am sharper mentally. Yes, I am always sore. But I would rather be sore from working hard than from not working at all. You and everyone at Bileau Built inspire me four times a week to make a better me, and for that, I can’t thank you enough!”

“I came across the Bileau Built family by chance sometime last August. It happened that I had just dropped off my son near the tennis courts in Slater Park for cross-country practice. That is when I caught sight of a group of people running around and wondered, ‘Who the heck are those people, and what on earth are they doing? "‘After watching for a moment, I started to walk back to my car when I recognized my sisters’ old childhood friend, Shannon in the group. I walked over and asked her what she was doing while she was energetically jumping rope. Shannon told me it was a class called Bileau Built and to check it out online. I went home excited to look the group up, hoping this would be something new to add to my exercise routine. I immediately found the Facebook page, clicked directly to the pictures of the classes. I instantly thought the pictures looked awesome, but to be honest I was nervous because some of the exercises looked crazy tough.

I have never been overweight, but I was still out of shape, especially endurance wise. I had been a member of various gyms in the area throughout the years but found myself bored to tears on the treadmill and many times I’d rush to classes just to find out the class was full. Most of the time, however; I just found it hard to stay self-motivated. I would run throughout the spring and summer, get in shape and then go into hibernation mode over the winter.

Enter Bileau Built!! After building up the nerve to go and making it through the first class, I was hooked! Exercise was actually fun! Now don’t get me wrong, that class was no easy walk in the park. I wondered if I even had it in me, but Jason and Pam were extremely welcoming and I got a sense that the group, as a whole, was fun and down to earth making it easier to attend.

It has now been 6 months since that first class and I still love it. There are many days that I have the internal fight that many of us have when deciding to workout. Especially after a long day at work, but I never regret it once I get to class. Jason never makes you feel bad if you can’t do a certain exercise and always provides a modified version if you're struggling. Jason doesn’t scream or behave like a militant drill sergeant, instead, he’s encouraging. Jason constantly walks around the class, gently tweaking your form or posture or will playfully bust you up if your slacking. Overall, through the months, I have seen many positive changes not only in my body but also in my energy, stress level, and strength. These classes give you the sense of having your own personal trainer, but at an affordable price.”
